Collier County
Commercial painting across Collier County
Collier County is a long stretch from the Gulf to the Everglades. The City of Naples has design review, Everglades City borrows the county's building staff, Marco Island and the small island communities take salt from every side, and Immokalee is farm country. Here is what matters in each.

- NaplesThe City of Naples reviews design for commercial and multifamily projects, and its Design Review Board covers substantial facade changes and awning changes. A repaint that changes how a storefront or office reads from the street can mean planning staff before any color is ordered.Commercial painting in Naples →
- Old NaplesFifth Avenue South is the one street the city's design review page names, because outdoor dining plans there go to the Design Review Board. A storefront repaint on that strip is planned around awnings, sidewalks and the city's calendar, not just the color on the wall.Commercial painting in Old Naples →
- Marco IslandHurricane Irma's center made landfall on Marco Island, and a spotter there logged the highest sustained wind the weather service reported on land in South Florida, 112 mph. Paint on this island is chosen for wind-driven rain and salt, and scheduled around the storm season.Commercial painting in Marco Island →
- Everglades CityEverglades City has no building department of its own. Under an interlocal agreement its building inspections and services come from Collier County, so a repaint here that needs a permit goes through the county's file, even though the building stands inside a city.Commercial painting in Everglades City →
- ChokoloskeeChokoloskee is an island reached by a causeway, and the weather service's highest surveyed surge in Collier County after Irma, eight feet, was at the Smallwood Store here. Painting on the island starts with how water has reached these walls before.Commercial painting in Chokoloskee →
- GoodlandGoodland is nearly surrounded by water, and its commercial life is seafood restaurants and charter boats. The weather service surveyed five to six feet of water at the waterfront during Irma, so a repaint here treats walls that have been wet by the bay.Commercial painting in Goodland →
- Isles of CapriIsles of Capri is four mangrove islands joined in the 1950s, and its commercial island holds restaurants, marinas and real estate offices. The population drops in summer, which makes the quiet months the natural window for painting.Commercial painting in Isles of Capri →
- ImmokaleeImmokalee is an inland, heavily agricultural town in unincorporated Collier County, and its Community Redevelopment Area dates from 2000. A repaint here is more often a packing house, a retail strip or a hangar than a beach tower.Commercial painting in Immokalee →
- Golden Gate EstatesGolden Gate Estates is a rural grid east of Naples, and the weather service believes Category 2 sustained winds crossed it in Irma's eastern eye wall. Its commercial buildings are scattered, so access and distance shape a repaint more than the street does.Commercial painting in Golden Gate Estates →
- Bayshore Gateway TriangleCollier County set up the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Community Redevelopment Agency in March 2000 after finding blight in this unincorporated part of East Naples. A repaint here sits inside a long-running county effort to renew older commercial buildings.Commercial painting in Bayshore Gateway Triangle →
- Naples ParkNaples Park is bounded on the east by US 41 and sits just north of Pelican Bay, and its neighborhood association dates from 1957. Commercial painting here means frontage buildings on the highway, with homes close behind.Commercial painting in Naples Park →
- Vanderbilt BeachVanderbilt Beach is an unincorporated Gulf-front community about nine miles north of central Naples, at roughly ten feet of elevation. A repaint here is a coastal job: salt on every wall, condo boards to coordinate and beach traffic to work around.Commercial painting in Vanderbilt Beach →
- Ave MariaAve Maria was founded in 2005 on about five thousand acres, and its town square holds shops and restaurants beside a church with steel arches. Almost everything is young, so repaints here are about keeping a consistent look, not curing old failures.Commercial painting in Ave Maria →
Questions
Across Collier
Is a permit needed to paint a commercial building here?
That depends on the building and on who issues permits there. Collier's small-job exemption is limited to single-family detached structures, so a commercial repaint cannot use it. In the City of Naples, substantial facade and awning changes in commercial districts go to design review. Before work begins we put the question to the right office in writing.
Which parts of Collier County do you quote?
Every part of it: Naples and Old Naples, Marco Island, Everglades City, Chokoloskee, Goodland, Isles of Capri, Immokalee, Golden Gate Estates, East Naples, Naples Park, Vanderbilt Beach and Ave Maria, plus the rest of the county. Each place page says what matters for painting there.
